Write the Book Your Work Deserves
Turn your expertise into the right nonfiction book, a structure you can trust, and a strong first draft.
This is where you get the book written.
This is not a program where you spend six months learning about writing a book. You will make the decisions, build the structure, write the pages, solve the problems, and strengthen the draft as you go.
Most books do not stall because the author lacks knowledge or ambition. They stall because the direction is uncertain, the structure cannot hold the material, writing time keeps disappearing, or problems arise without anyone there to help resolve them.
Program dates: September 14, 2026 to March 19, 2027
Complete the brief program fit form, and I will recommend the level of support that appears to fit best.
A clear path from idea to stronger draft
The program is designed to give you the right support at the point when you need it, so you are not left guessing what to do next or trying to solve every problem alone.
Begin with a direction you can trust
You start with a private Book Direction Session to clarify the book, the reader, the purpose, and the decisions that will shape the manuscript.
You then receive a personalized review of your content plan or rough outline.
Why it matters: You do not spend months writing before discovering that the book is too broad, aimed at the wrong reader, or built on an unstable structure.
Turn the plan into pages
You have two hosted writing sessions each week, giving the book protected space in your calendar.
Weekly group coaching helps you address the obstacles that emerge while you are doing the work.
Why it matters: You are not left to solve every structural, creative, or practical problem alone, and the book does not disappear beneath the rest of your life.
Strengthen the work as you write
You receive two developmental reviews of up to 1,500 words each, with the option to revise and resubmit.
Why it matters: You learn what is working, where the reader may struggle, and how to improve the writing while there is still time to apply that learning across the manuscript.
Finish with a clear road ahead
You end with a private session focused on the state of the manuscript and the next stage of the journey.
Together, you develop a practical plan for finishing, revising, editing, or preparing for publication.
Why it matters: You do not leave the program wondering what to do next.
What you will have by the end of six months
By the end of the program, you may have a complete first draft. If the manuscript is not yet finished, you will still leave with a clear direction, a structure that supports the material, substantial progress on the draft, stronger writing and revision skills, and a realistic plan for completing the book.
- A stable book direction
- A clear reader and promise
- A structure that supports the material
- Substantial progress on the draft
- Stronger writing and revision skills
- A realistic plan for completing the book
Everything you need to keep the book moving
Every part of the program has a purpose. You receive direction before you write too far, protected time to produce the pages, coaching when obstacles arise, and editorial feedback while there is still time to strengthen the manuscript.
Start with clear direction
Begin with a private Book Direction Session, followed by a personalized review of your content plan or rough outline.
Protect time for the book
Join two hosted writing sessions each week so the book has a consistent place in your calendar and the pages continue to accumulate.
Get help when problems arise
Bring structural, creative, and practical obstacles to weekly group coaching instead of allowing them to stop your progress.
Strengthen the manuscript as you write
Receive two developmental reviews of up to 1,500 words each, with the opportunity to revise and resubmit your work.
Follow a guided process
Use the six-month curriculum, monthly milestones, progress check-ins, templates, resources, recordings, and community support to stay oriented.
Leave with a clear road ahead
Finish with a private session and personalized editorial roadmap for completing, revising, editing, or preparing the manuscript for publication.
Choose the level of support your book needs
Both levels include the full six-month journey. The difference is how much support you would like to receive.

Your book needs more than encouragement. It needs experienced editorial guidance.
As a developmental editor, Melody Ann Owen has help nonfiction authors make the decisions that shape the entire manuscript: what the book is really about, who it is for, what belongs, what needs to go, and how the material should be organized so the reader can follow it.
Melody Ann Owen has helped authors completely reorganize manuscripts, remove substantial content to strengthen the story, simplify complex ideas, complete unfinished books, and change direction when the original concept was not the strongest book to pursue.
Here are three examples:
A complete manuscript reorganization
Editorial Work:
For A Little Bit Culty, the manuscript was reorganized to create a clearer structure and stronger reader journey.
Reader Review:
“…an excellent, thorough and readable resource…”
A tighter, more focused story
Editorial Work:
For Haunted Victory, approximately 30% of the content was removed to reduce the word count, eliminate repetition, and strengthen the narrative.
Reader Review:
“…an important story, well written and compelling.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have started writing before the program begins?
No. You may begin with an idea, notes, a rough outline, or an early draft. The opening Book Direction Session and content-plan review will help establish the direction and structure.
Will I finish the entire manuscript in six months?
That depends on the length of the book, how much you have already written, and the time you can devote to it. The goal is a strong first draft or substantial progress, along with a clear plan for completing the manuscript.
What happens if I miss a coaching or writing session?
Coaching recordings will be available during the program. Writing sessions are working time, so you can continue with your own writing schedule when you cannot attend live. If you have a question and can’t make it to coaching you can ask it in the Ask for Help Section of the community or send me the question to answer during coaching.
What kinds of nonfiction books are suitable?
The program is designed for reader-focused nonfiction by researchers, professionals, educators, speakers, consultants, and others drawing on substantial knowledge or experience. We have worked with founders, medical professionals, memoirists, and more.
How do I know which level is right for me?
Most people will fit the Guided Cohort. If you think you’d like more guidance with 1:1 sessions, ghostwriting, or co-writing, complete the program fit form. I will review your responses and recommend the level of support that appears to fit your book and working style best. Or you can book a call with Melody Ann to discuss.
Your book deserves more than another year of waiting
Give your book a clear direction, a structure you can trust, protected time to write, and the support to keep moving when problems arise.
Program begins September 14, 2026.
